Never a crew to turn away from misery, we at WTB? will be live tonight at 7:00 PM. Tune in as we break down what went wrong this Sunday as the Saints came in and after a slow start demolished our Buccaneers. Josh Freeman looked human which, in my opinion, is good. Humility is important and an NFL quarterback will have to learn how to deal with poor games if he hopes to grow and excel in the league. This will be a good test of Freeman who came into the league with many questioning his work ethic and mental toughness. After a bad outing yesterday, the young signal caller will need to get his head on straight and get back to the lab.

The game was intersting for about 2.25 quarters and then the disparity in turnovers and the offensive strength of the Saints overpowered our rebuilding franchise. The Saints fans were out in full force and the Bucs faithful, smaller in number by the week, were seen hitting the parking lots in the 3rd quarter. Tonight we will discuss:

News from around the league

Injury status

Gameday note (Tailgate and another security issue!)

Skulls and Swords (get them in early!)

Game breakdown

Mailbag

Water Cooler

It is always easier to support a winner folks. I am saddened by the Tampa fans locally but more upsetting is that I am not surprised. See you this evening for our weekly support group!

Well, we are in the homestretch and despite an improvement in our effort and scoring, the team remains a bit of a train wreck. We got some good news this week with the reinstatement of Aaron Sears, but that will do little to assist our porous offensive line this Sunday. (Wait a minute, did I mean our porous defensive line? Dammit…this is very confusing!) Nevertheless, the New Orleans Saints are marching into Raymond James Stadium this week carrying around an undefeated record, their usually potent offense behind the golden arm of Drew Brees and a resurgent defense that has replaced the weak secondary of the past with one that creates turnovers. If they did not bring KimK with them on the road, this would be like a horror movie plot! (As it is, it is still a movie plot…)

Thursday night at 7:00 PM we will peel back the layers of this New Orleans squad. We may have a guest from the Big Easy, but nothing else about this matchup will be easy (yea, I know that is a stretch). Many fans are hearkening back to 1996 when the undefeated Vikings came into Ray Jay. They left that day with 41 points hung on them by Shawn King and a foot in their collective asses. Can this Bucs squad rekindle that emotion? God knows they need it. John Lynch after the win said, “”It’s been so long since we’ve had a win … It cures so many things. I don’t care what you say, when you’ve lost four straight, the confidence sags a little.” Imagine having lost 7 out of 8 John!

We will have our standing agenda but the focus will be on the Saints. I would like to say that they are not scary, but they are. They are no worse than 5th in key offensive statistics and 1st in Points and Yards.

The injury bug has hit a few Saints, but we are early in the week to get excited about depleted ranks.

Player (Pos) Injury

Reggie Bush (RB) Did Not Pract - Knee

Jonathan Goodwin (C) Did Not Pract - Ankle

Lance Moore (WR) Did Not Pract - Ankle

Word out of camp is that Jim bates is mad as hell and he isn’t going to take it anymore. Coach Morris has dropped the gauntlet that the squad he chose does not possess the talent needed to compete (though he said the opposite for weeks so who knows what he really thinks). Expect to see some regular starters getting less time (and yes, we are working on a VooDooPriest or Priestess to work on getting Clayton included in that group). There is a rumor that we may get a few of our 10 million dollars worth out of Antonio Bryant this week if they make sure he is able to walk prior to the game.

DAMMIT! This sucks! We are all mad. I see improvement but we need some wins. We need some guys to step up! Will this be the week? Not sure, but Chef Red is cooking Gumbo and we are tailgating regardless so join us on the show and then come out and share a drink before we see what our Bucs do when shoved into the band saw known as the New Orleans Saints!

Tonight we will break down the next opponent and after a victory Sunday, the sky is the limit! Hell, most of the free world thought we would go 0-16. Shows what they know! Now those same heartless bastards think that there is no way we could possibly complete with the juggernaut from South Florida. I mean seriously. They ALMOST beat the Saints. They ALMOST beat the Patriots. They ALMOST beat the Colts. They ALMOST beat the Falcons. They ALMOST beat the Chargers.

Hey, wait a minute. Who did these guys beat? They beat the Jets, twice (To be fair, both wins cam afterthe first three games of the season when Sanchez was still playing well and there was no tape on him) and they beat Buffalo SOUNDLY.

Yup, I can see why we don’t stand a chance.

Tune in at 7:00 PM right here to break this game down. We will talk about the Dolphins and what it will take to stop them (fortunately, there is a lot of film on that) as well as our beloved Bucs and what they need to do in order to continue this winning streak (yea, I know, a stretch to call a 1 game run a streak).

THEY DID! All aspects of the game count folks. Does this mean that we are on our way to the playoffs? Nope. It means we are no longer winless and unless you are a bitter clown, that has to make you at least a little bit happy. We will be talking about the win tonight on the show, breaking down the performance and digging into the highs and the lows. Come join us as we talk about a Retro weekend that gave us a name in our Ring of Honor, a glimpse at days gone by and a new feeling for 2009. The feeling of victory!

Get your Skulls and Swords in early and bring a drink! We are live at 7:00 pm!

<itunes:summary>Oh I know, this win was an aberration. If only Green Bay had not given up 6 sacks and 3 interceptions and allowed us to block a punt and gouge them in return yards, then the better team would have won. Guess what?

This season has been a struggle to say the least. From the turbulent beginnings to the shaky draft, we thought we had seen the darkest hours early. Then it happened. The worst possible scenario. the young, idealist head coach hit a losing streak. This would be the test of his resolve. Could he get through the adversity and maintain the faith and support of the team? Would the young squad rally around their leader or turn their backs on him when the chips were down? Well, it looks like Raheem’s support crew is losing a lot of numbers. Tales of squabbling and infighting are running rampant and the play on the field is made uglier by increasingly bad game planning, play calling and a complete lack of game time adjustments. Fortunately, to offset this pile of horseshit, the situation is exacerbated by a revolving door at QB (oh yea, and at K).

Well, tonight we will talk about all of it. Our friend Scott Reynolds from the Pewter Reportwill be joining us for a tick to discuss the team so far and his take on the rumors, stories and speculation that is rampant about the team. We may or may not have a player calling in as every time we announce that we end up being wrong, so we will live dangerously (but his name is a delicious cracker used in S’More creation). Since we have been off, the time limit is off as well. I expect to have the Doc in the house and cover the following:

News from around the league (including UFL Updates)

Reminder about next Thursday’s morning drivetime being hosted by OldSchool on 1010 AM (and http://www.1010sportsonline.com)

Injury Updates (and random roster changes)

Mid year grades (this is where the drinking will probably start/get heavier)

Mid season Skull and Sword

What went wrong (or is going wrong) and how do we fix it

The Throwback Curse (Hey, if Madden can have one, can’t we?)

The Packers (Did you see them play the Minnesota Favre’s?)

Predictive MVP’s

Tailgate Discussion

All we can promise is honest talk about the team we love folks. Right now it sucks. It is easy to be negative and in some cases, there is no choice. We will look to find positives and point them out but right now, we are prepping for next year. Will Freeman show signs that support his draft status and vindicate the FO? Can we actually play 4 quarters of football (contiguously)? Will we throw up an 0-16 and break OldSchool’s heart in the process? This and much more Thursday night at 7:00 PM Wauchula time!

Well Bucs fans, the times sure are dark. Here in Tampa, when things get dark, folks get cynical. I like cynical. I like sarcasm. (I also like magicians and clowns…does that make me creepy?) Our team is sitting win-less this season (Hey! We won once in the preseason!) and is on the heels of a 10 game, regular season losing skid. We are being flown over to England to play as the home team against the Patriots. (Am I the only one who finds it funny that a team whose mascot is the Minute Man (not that kind Chain) is playing in England? What the hell is wrong with the education system these days?) Nobody in their right mind has us picked to be competitive in this game. You cannot even call this a ‘trap’ game for New England as they had one of those last week and decided to not only beat the hapless Titans but also kick sand in their face and perform unholy acts on their collective significant others…in front of them.

The Patriots are saying all the right things about how the Bucs are dangerous and that this will be a tough contest, but realistically, last week, in the snow, the Patriots dropped 380 yards in the air on that Titans defense. Now, the Titans offense didn’t help matters by committing 5 turnovers, but Brady and crew showed a couple of things:

Their offense is back on track

They can put up points

They are not afraid to run up the score

They have no fear of payback/karma

Now weather you think it is in poor taste to run up the score like that against a team that clearly has got nothing going for it or not, you cannot deny that a score like that is just as possible this week. The Bucs offensive line did very little against a Carolina defense that had given up 160 yards per game on the ground on average. Was that the line’s fault, or Greg Olsen? (Yea, I will blame him for almost anything after the game he called last week. in fact, I am not so sure that he was NOT in Dallas during the famous motorcade…yea, you know the one!) the Bucs (Josh Johnson in particular) had a serious problem holding onto the ball last week. If you let the Patriots have the ball 20 more times that your offense has it, things like a 59 - 0 ass whipping will occur.

So, tonight we will talk about the Bucs. We will discuss the state of Buccaneer Nation (I know, that is a stretch. In down years like this, we are a lot more like a territory or an outpost…or Canada). This area and this fanbase always handles bad times so well, it is shocking to see the torches and produce being readied for a march on 1 Buc Place already (see earlier comment about sarcasm). Topics tonight will include:

News from around the league

Injury updates

The Opponent - Yep, they really are very good

State of the Team

Is there a bright spot?

Keys to the Game (Note to the Bucs - You should DO these things)

Predictive MVP’s

Score Prediction

As always, get your Predictive MVPs and score predictions in earlier to our mail hotline at questions AT whatthebuc DOT net. (Screw you spam clowns!) We will be live at 7:00 ish and yes, we may be drinking.

There was not a single aspect of the game that the Buccaneers coaching staff pulled their weight on yesterday. I know many of you have been crying constantly about the coaching and I have defended it at times. I could find no way to defend it yesterday guys and tonight we blow it out! After this loss and facing a trip to London to face a team in the Patriots who will absolutely run the score up, the scene at 1 Buc could be very ugly in about 10 days. We will be live tonight breaking down the game as usual. I will be wearing the Carolina Panther hat per my wager with Big Nick. Topics will include:

Wow. Many people expected we would be right where we are. Winless. Depressed. On the brink of revolt. Then again, those people predict that almost every year as I have stated previously, predicting the worst is a gutless and no-lose proposition. Here we sit in a rebuilding year still looking for more than we expected. Much more than a win is necessary. This team lacks an identity. That was not supposed to be the problem. The new regime was supposed to bring clarity of purpose.

Hard-nosed. Physical. Run first. Throw off of play action. That was the charter. We have not seen that yet.

This week, one of the “rivalry” teams comes into Raymond James stadium. We have a long (relatively) and storied history with Carolina. During our big run, the Panthers who were built in our image, consistently gave us problems. When we were running over other teams in the league, the hatred on the field bubbled up from Sapp and Jenkins to Sauerbrun and Gramatica. Tough games, usually won by Carolina, created a rivalry which was the idea in the NFC South restructure. Build regional rivalries that allow the fans to travel and support their teams. Well done Der Commissar!

Fast forward a little and, at least here, the hatred on the field has subsided. It had been replaced by a healthy respect. The fanbases discovered a great number of similarities and thanks to the Al Gore and the advent of the internet, the fanbases were able to interact mor regularly. This week, we expect a great time with Panther fans and Buc fans getting together to discuss our cumulative shitty seasons.

The Panthers pulled a win out last week against the Redskins which has triggered conjecture about a turnaround for their season and the familiar cries of “Bring on the Bucs” (with various colorful while normally stale and unoriginal variants). I was surprised how much that win bolstered the spirits of our Carolina brethren, but all it did was inspire me more. These games are circled on my calendar every year. This year, after seeing how the Panthers started out, they were circled as WINNABLE. Yea, I know, I pick the Bucs every week. You guys know why and what the rationale behind that attempt at swaying karma is. This week when I pick the Bucs to win it will be because I feel we legitimately should be able to beat this team. It is not a stretch nor a hailmary attempt at pulling in favor from the universe. It does NOT require a perfect game by all aspects of our squad (though that would surely be nice). The Panthers are just not that good this year, in fact, the Panthers are a bad team. They had some outstanding individual players. They have yet to put a solid 4 quarters together and despite having a significant number of talented pieces, cannot get the puzzle put together. Sound familiar? This team is one that we should have hopes of competing with as, once again, they are a mirror of our team. The picture in the mirror is not as pretty this time around.

Tonight we will cover the game with a couple of guests. John White, of Cat Crave Radio, is a long time friend and diehard Panther fan. Though I met him first as a Dolphin fan, I know his Carolina blood is the real deal. He will be on with us via the Studio Line representing his Panthers. Before that segment (we think), will be my favorite Buccaneer, Chris Hovan. His boss (not Raheem or Jim, but Jamie) has confirmed that he will be calling in, so we will do the best we cna to get that lined up. The topics for tonight will include:

News from around the league

Injury updates

Whatever Chris Hovan wants to talk about!

The Panthers and why we will have our first victory Sunday

Why Carolina feels their season was turned around by a narrow defeat of the equally (to both of us) hapless Redskins

As always, get your questions, comments, pontifications and predictive MVP’s along with your score predictions to questions [AT] whatthebuc [DOT] net (I saw someone else do that to avoid SPAM and so I figured I would give it a shot). See you tonight at 7:00 PM, Wesley Chapel Time!

<itunes:summary>Wow.

Update: As many of you are aware, in an act of total accident or a convoluted conspiracy as hinted by a morning DJ (name withheld to protect the innocent local) Studio 76 was left without power last night and subsequently, the #1 rated (I surveyed my friends and family and a few folks that were of, let’s say, questionable motivation), fan-based show focused on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to be canceled. Spent and The Doctor tried to get the word out in the Chatroom and we ‘tweeted’ about it, so hopefully nobody was totally confused, lost or scared. It does point out the critical need you have now to follow us in one of the 14000 social media constructs we use to stay ‘Abreasted’ of updates (if you don’t get that inside joke, you are new to the program. Welcome!).

Well, despite this setback, the WTB? crew will be doing our Monday program tonight. That’s right, you heard (err…read?) me correctly. Tonight, at 7:00 PM Riverview, FL time, we will be doing our Monday night broadcast. So accept our apology for the scheduling issue, find a babysitter and bring your Bucs questions/comments (and may we recommend a delicious beverage…except for Nnudd….and Tundra) right here for the show tonight!

Well, nobody expected us to win this one so in an odd way, I guess we did not disappoint. However, after the majority of watch two of the game, I am very disappointed. Not with the effort level. Not overall. With the fact that we left this game on the table. A number of good performances were lost in the fog of crap performances by folks who make too much money and in at least one occasion, cry too much about not getting an opportunity to turn out as the major problem. Tonight we will:

Cover news from around the league
Brief review of the UFL game. Being in the coaches press conference was DOPE!
Review injuries and roster moves
Review the most recent loss
Analyze the progression of hte team (or regression?)
Actually talk some folks off the ledge
Rail against a few players that are REALLY pissing me off
As always, get your Skulls and Swords in early so that we can get some consensus on who did well and who did not. We will also start the discussion about the home game coming up with Carolina, the implications of that game and most importantly, the tailgate which brings joy and happiness to our other wise dull world.

Anyone see the Mike Clayton quote? “That’s why I don’t pay any attention to that stuff because the mentality is that you make up for it and you come back and catch the next one. I mean, regardless of what they say, the check is in the bank. That’s not changing.”

It’s that time again. Once again we have the opportunity to prove that this team has the heart and talent to actually compete in this league. It is very popular to jump ship on a losing team. I believe the picture here is from the Tribune (I will correctly site and give credit once I confirm its location). I know that most of the people that participate with WTB? are not the ones on the ‘plank.’ That being said, losing sucks ass. This week, we face a stacked team in the Philadelphia Eagles. Donovan McNabb is expected to start after missing duty with a rib injury. In his absence, backup Kevin Kolb performed well enough to render ex-Buccaneer Jeff Garcia expendable (again). The Eagles com in after a Bye week which has led to 10 consecutive wins for coach Andy Reid (he does well after Bye weeks). They carry with them a 2-1 record, but their victories came against a bad Carolina squad and an also bad squad in Kansas City. When the Eagles faced the Saints, they came away with a 48-21 loss hung around their necks.

As is all the rage, we were pretty down on Monday’s show. For me, that was cathartic. i feel much better going into this evening’s broadcast. Talbuc posted a great article about our new starting quarterback this morning. Ronde recently took a shot at the local media (thankfully, we are not members thereof) asking incredulously if they WANTED the Bucs to fail! Well, Ronde, misery sells. Look at the news brother. Lead with murder and rape and watch your ratings rise. Hell, even in our microcosm, we get more viewers and downloads on losses than on wins. So, for those financially motivated, despair drives views. Here at WTB? we just call it like we see it. We would rather be pounding our chest about the most recent team whose ass we kicked. Believe me. We would LOVE to be talking about how we are rolling up 250 yards of rushing offense on every defense we face. We would be ECSTATIC to prattle on about how no team can score on our still elite defense.

Sadly, none of that is true.

Tonight, we will look at the upcoming foe and discuss what needs to happen for our Bucs to get the first ‘W’ of the year. Topics will include:

News from around the league

Injury update

Press conference review

Where have all the runner gone?

New QB, Same Offensive Line

Washington - Lost to the LIons, does that mean they suck?

100 Million Dollars just got wheeled off the field - Do NOT invest in the fat guys

What to expect this week

As always, get your comments, questions, predictive MVPS and scores into questions@whatthebuc.net. We will be live at 7:00 PM. Grab a drink and come join us!

Tonight, we will look at the upcoming foe and discuss what needs to happen for our Bucs to get the first 'W' of the year. Topics will include:
News from around the league

Injury update
Press conference review
Where have all the runner gone?
New QB, Same Offensive Line
Washington - Lost to the LIons, does that mean they suck?
100 Million Dollars just got wheeled off the field - Do NOT invest in the fat guys
What to expect this week

As always, get your comments, questions, predictive MVPS and scores into questions@whatthebuc.net. We will be live at 7:00 PM. Grab a drink and come join us!

Well people, the sound of people jumping off this teams bandwagon has been a steady volume for quite some time, but this weekend, there was a giant “whooshing” sound as even some very faithful folks figured that if the Bucs did not give a shit, why should they. We are not in that group, but this evening we will talk about what the team portrayed as a game against the Giants Sunday. The talk will be, as always, direct and clear so realize that if you are a Sensitive Sally, this will be the wrong place for you. Topics will include:

News from around the league (other teams have things to hope for)

Injury update

MISSING RUNNING GAME - IF FOUND, CALL 1 BUC PLACE

Were we beaten before we got on the field?

Worst offensive performance in Bucs history?

He’s close to losing them…what next?

Richard Williamson Countdown or Dungy Redux?

Game Review (Painful…you should have been drinking before we got here)

Skulls and Swords (Not sure there is a Sword other than to the Cheerleaders)

We may have to start working harder on figuring out “The Plan” though I think that it may have gone the way of the Chupacabra or Ogo Pogo (obscure reference, Dennis Miller style). I am sure that we will hear the familiar cries about a new QB, no talent and horrible coaching. At the tailgate site after the game, some folks asserted that they would be better than our players.

Clearly, there was a LOT of drinking going on. Join us tonight at 7:00 PM at www.whatthebuc.net for the show. Get your questions, comments and lamentations in early and we will share them.

Go Byers!). We will be discussing the most recent news about the Bucs, the tailgate and the matchups in this week’s game against the Giants. I know that a show Friday at 7:00 PM is very hard to resist, so the chat room may have issues due to attendance! If you come over live, make sure you have your drink of choice. Topics we plan to cover:

News from around the league

Spotlight Matchup (A dive into Talbuc’s recent article)

So bring your best Buc attitude and let’s talk Bucs football. Also, Miss Krissy was out watching the first UFL scrimmage last night and we hope to get an update from her on how our man Mr. Ghent looked on the field with the rest of the guys (and two ex-Bucs, Simeon Rice and Michael Pittman).

For those of you who have forgotten, we will be at the location on OHIO ST. For the tailgate. The map below, while very cool looking, is inaccurate on how to get there. Ohio St. is blocked off at Himes. You mus approach via side streets or from the East. It is an easy location to find though. Drop us a note if you are confused.

It’s Thursday folks and hopefully the pain from Sunday has been dulled by whatever combination of time and controlled substances (food included) you leverage. That game is in the past and though we need to learn from it, we have to leave the angst behind. This week, our beloved Bucs travel north to face the surprisingly potent Buffalo Bills. Buffalo comes into this contest after taking New England to the brink in a contest where they displayed a stout defense, potent running game and a no-huddle offense that while not fancy or record breaking, kept the chains moving. In short, the Bills are better than anyone thought.

Tonight on the show we will cover the following topics:

What are we going to expect out of the Bills?

Will the no huddle help or hinder our young defense?

Anyone seen TO recently? They have firepower folks.

Can our Special Teams look less “Special”?

How will the absence of Jeff Faine impact our running game?

Grab a drink, get your TV tuned to the college football game and join us on the broadcast. We will be live at 7:00 PM Eastern and live in the Chatroom as well.

It should come as no surprise that there will be emotion tonight.
